Nokia 8 with Zeiss Cameras

HMD Global is apparently working on its first flagship smartphone called Nokia 8 that could give tough competition to its arch rivals with dual rear cameras and will likely sport a Snapdragon 835 processor. Now, well-known tipster Evan Blass has posted a teaser image of the upcoming Nokia 8. The teaser image shows a dual rear setup with Carl Zeiss lens optics, and Blass later followed it with a full blown render of what the Nokia 8 will look like.

Based on the image, the dual cameras are stacked vertically accompanied by a laser auto-focus sensor and a dual-tone LED flash. This purportedly confirms the Nokia 8 will feature a dual camera system with Zeiss branding, a move aimed to position the phone against the iPhone 7 Plus, one of the highest rated smartphones in the market. HMD Global and Zeiss have themselves confirmed future branding on the Nokia phones.

On the front, the Nokia 8 screen appears to be an edge-less display from the sides, but there is a home button on the front as well, so it won’t be totally bezel-less if you go by this photo. We’ve also seen other leaks around the Nokia 8 smartphone. Another report from German website WinFuture reveals more details about the upcoming smartphone. The report said the launch that could take place at the end of the month on July 31. It also revealed the model number TA-1004 of the device, along with the full specifications of Nokia 8.

Nokia 8 will feature a Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, according to the report. It will offer dual-SIM functionality and the single-SIM variant is also being planned.

The size of the display is still unclear, though a recent report has claimed it could be a 5.3-inch Quad HD resolution one. According to leaks, there will be at least four colours: blue, steel, gold/copper and gold/blue. Rumour has it the phone could be launched at €589 (or approx Rs 43,415) for Scandinavian countries, but the device might cost less in other parts of Europe.

This appears to be HMD’s high-end Nokia-branded device, and will likely ship with a pure version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It seems that HMD is sticking with physical keys and larger display bezels for its Nokia-branded flagship device. That could make the Nokia 8 a hard sell against the Samsung Galaxy S8 and other similar Android-powered handsets, but pricing could make up for the design elements.

While this Nokia 8 will include Carl Zeiss optics, it won’t have the same type of camera system that was made by the engineers of Nokia’s PureView. Apple hired Nokia’s Lumia photography expert, and the majority of the talent behind Nokia’s camera work left the company when Microsoft acquired Nokia’s phone business.

But after that, Xiaomi has announced the Xiaomi Mi Drone 4K will be listed on March 3 with a price of 2,999 yuan (~$436), where as the battery for the same is going to be priced at 499 yuan (~$72).

Naturally, as always happens with Xiaomi products, these can never be available directly from us. However, you can just buy them at China, on Xiaomi’s web shop, together with a few other places such as Jingdong Mall and Suning, simply to name a few. Apparently, on the other hand, in addition to this best resolution video, the Xiaomi Mi Drone 4K will be published with improved applications optimization and five significant hardware upgrades.

In comparison to the older edition, in fact, will probably soon be present two sets of separate movement of IMU and compass detectors to guarantee a far better accuracy in the flight data and, in the case of failure, to re-establish stability and the flight safety.

Also, the remote control system has been improved, so as to reduce the contact loss and also to give the possibility of tracing the position in realtime even in case of failure, even if it’s calculated in real time the power required to return to base. Even in case of lack of charge, then your user will likely be automatically notified the should come back, also calculating the routes so to avert the no-fly zone.

The body of the Xiaomi Mi Drone 4K was made with a constructive process of 1.2 mm, which features four lithium polymer batteries in 4.35V and 5100 mAh convenience of a complete ability of 77,52Wh and independence up to 26 minutes.

The photo sensor is a Sony back lit 12 megapixels, with a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and support for RAW images. The Xiaomi Mi Drone 4K. Then, is built with a self-stabilizing head brushless 3-axis which incorporates a 3-axis gyroscope, also a 3-axis accelerometer and a retractable engine into three axes, able to perform data acquisition and calculation of compensation around 2000 times per minute, giving the camera an amount of stability and precision that is remarkable.

All of the sounds pretty impressive for a $460 drone (propeller defenses included( no less), but Xiaomi appears to be in no hurry since its drone is only going to be inputting an open beta near the close of July. Having said that, there’ll also be a slightly cheaper 1080p 60 fps variant that’s launching on Xiaomi. Just 1km limits very own crowdfunding platform to Morrow for 2,499 yuan (which will be about $380), with the other tradeoff being its range, but that shouldn’t become considered a problem for casual users. Oh, and there’s going to be a 99 yuan (roughly $15) back pack made to fit this specific drone, too. In case the Mi Drone ever manages to leave China, we’ll let y’ know straight a way.

As we’ve previously reported, Xiaomi is quickly expanding its ecosystem of connected devices, for example, a rice cooker, a kiddies smart watch plus a self-balancing electric scooter, as an air conditioner and a water purifier. There’s obviously more to come, as Lei temporarily mentioned his institution’s research laboratory is already focusing on robots, ‘’ and he also cautioned Xiaomi’s first VR product due in August or September. Will they be in a position to compete against the big names around? Only time will tell.

Wireless Charging Accessory Will Not Be Prepared at iPhone 8 Launch This Year

It’s long been rumored that Apple’s upcoming 2017 iPhone models will feature some wireless charging technology, but now blogger John Gruber says that the feature might not be available at launch…

In a tweet, Gruber clarified that he’s heard inductive charging will be sold separately from the iPhone itself, something which many accounts have claimed. Additionally, he states that the new charging technology “might be late” rather than establish until iOS 11.1 has been published.

Gruber likens wireless charging into the delay of Portrait Mode using the 7 Plus’ delay. Apple revealed Portrait Mode on the platform when unveiling the apparatus, but didn’t make it accessible it to people before iOS 10.1, a month after the device’s release.

Leaked schematics have speculated the iPhone 8 will consist of wireless charging capacities dependent on the Qi technology.

CEO Robert Hwang of Wistron, Apple’s primary iPhone manufacturer in India, let it slide last month the iPhone 8 will include wireless charging, even while Powermat CEO Lead Dubzinski also stated that wireless charging would become a “normal feature in another iPhone.” A report asserted that Apple would use the Smart Connector for wireless.

Lately, KGI said that all 3 iPhones would embrace the technology, although some have stated that wireless will be exclusive to the expensive iPhone 8.

It’s still not clear why the attachment would need to be delayed, like if it’s a hardware or software issue. However, by selling the accessory and in turn such as the charging cable in the iPhone 8 box, wireless charing essentially becomes an optional feature that users need to pay extra for.

Rumors once indicated that Apple considered a long-range wireless charging solution, permitting the 8 without having contact to be charged. Rather it’s believed that Apple is moving with inductive charging such as the Apple Watch, meaning the iPhone would be put on top of a charger.
